The Bearcats were stopped in their tracks.

Obviously the weekend didnít turn out the way Truro had desired, but, desire itself doesnít guarantee outcome.

Fans at both games saw three good hockey teams. The route to high placements will demand some heavy slogging.

In the Amherst game, the Bearcats played a strong game but didnít win. The Ramblerís goalie, by far their best penalty-killer, slammed the door on Bearcat opportunities, especially in the opening frame.

With the score tied going into the third, the Ramblers found a way to win. They now have won all four meetings this season.

The Pictou County Crushers got the early jump and, on that evening were the better team. A three goal deficit against that team is hard to overcome.

While the Crushers swarmed, the Bearcats struggled in their own end. Some good Truro chances were snuffed out in a timely manner in the other end.

The Bearcats didnít come away with any points but there should be lessons learned. They played the Ramblers the right way but came up short.

There will be no shortcuts against the Crushers. Truro has to play a 200 foot game and make them play that distance as well.

The Eastlink South Division is very tight. While it may not be likely any team will catch the Crushers for top spot, all other slots are for the taking.

Over the next week, the Bearcats have a say as to how the deck may be shuffled. They have three games slated, two at the RECC and one on the road.

Friday, the Bearcats host the Yarmouth Mariners. Truro has defeated them in all three meetings. The Bearcats know the recipe and now itís a matter of following it.

Woodstock is a well coached team in a rebuild year. They, too, are fighting for play off positions so their intentions are clear for Saturdayís game.

Both games get underway at 7:00 pm and are part of the Winter Long John Festival. A Friday ticket is good for Saturday as well.

Next Wednesday, the Bearcats are in Berwick to face the Valley Wildcats. This is a make-up date for a game originally scheduled for Oct.23 rd .

Letís get at it.
