By Gerry Hale

The Truro Bearcats added strength up the middle with the acquisition of twenty-year old, Campbell Pickard. The trade with the Miramichi saw defenceman, Jarrod Shipley and the rights to Anthony Wojcik (acquired in the QMJHL Supplementary draft) go to Timberwolves.

Pickard, a Halifax native, finished last year with 19 goals and 41 assists and lead MHL playoff scoring with 10 goals and 13 assists in 15 postseason games. The former Halifax Midget Titan was a 2013 Baie-Comeau Drakkar Draft Pick. He spent most of the 2013 2014 season with the Bridgewater Lumberjacks followed by two full seasons in the QMJHL with the Drakkar, Acadie-Bathurst and the Moncton Wildcats. He finished last season tied for first in team scoring while a Timberwolf. His offensive skill set and leadership comes to the Bearcats at the right time.

The Bearcats also acquired twenty year-old goalie, Ryan Huestis, from the Timberwolves. The Nova Scotia Midget AAA Top Goalie in 2014-2015 spent last season split among the Valley Wildcats, Miramichi and the East Hants Junior B Penguins. The Bedford native gives the Bearcats greater depth in the goaltending position.
