Bearcat-of-the-Week honours went to second-year Bearcat, Trey Sturge. He scored the winner in the second OT period to even the Bearcat – Wildcat series at three games apiece, sending the Game back to Truro for Game Seven. Injury has limited his play to 8 of Truro’s playoff games, but he knew what to do when the situation presented itself. The 2020 draft pick by Truro and Shawinigan came into the MHL with high scoring credentials while with the Sydney Rush U18. This could well be his biggest goal.
Goaltenders have to give their skaters the chance to win. That couldn’t be more true than in Monday’s Game Six. Maverick Goyer turned aside 45 of 47 shots directed his way while Valley goalie Antoine Lyonnais redirected 40 of 43. That’s performance.
