The Truro Bearcats are very pleased to announce the hiring of new Head Coach, Jon Greenwood formerly of the Saint Mary’s Huskies Men’s Hockey team.
Greenwood, of Cole Harbour boasts an extensive coaching career with experience in Major U18, the QMJHL, many Hockey Nova Scotia High Performance programs and most recently, the AUS.
Jon served as the Director of Hockey Development at the Maritime Hockey Academy, teaching and coaching the likes of NHL superstar, Nathan MacKinnon before moving on to the U18 level with stints with the Halifax Titans(now MacDonalds) and Cole Harbour Wolfpack where he was named NS U18 Coach of the Year in 2013-14.
Following the 2013-14 season, Jon would move on to the QMJHL where he was an Assistant Coach for the Halifax Mooseheads for 7 seasons from 2014-21 which included a QMJHL final and Memorial Cup final appearance in 2019. Greenwood was also the Head Coach of the Nova Scotia Men’s hockey team in the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
For the past 3 seasons, Jon has been an Assistant Coach for the Saint Mary’s Huskies in the AUS.

The organization is very happy to add a coach with the knowledge, experience and professionalism that Greenwood possesses.
Jon will join us as we host the 2024 MHL Draft on June 15th where we will find the next crop of future Truro Bearcats.
